VANCOUVER, Aug. 21, 2014 /CNW/ – Arthur Evrensel, Founding Partner of MEP Business Counsel and noted Canadian entertainment lawyer, was honoured Thursday, August 14, at the 2014 Celebrate WFF – the Whistler Film Festival Society’s renowned annual charity benefit. Mr. Evrensel, whose tenure as a member of the Whistler Film Festival Society’s Board of Directors culminated this year, was toasted for his contributions on the Society’s Board and recognized for his visionary leadership developing the Canadian film and entertainment industry over the last several decades.
Mr. Evrensel’s recognition by Celebrate WFF follows his being named Vancouver’s Best Lawyer of the Year – Entertainment Law in 2012, and his consistent listing as one of Canada’s leading entertainment lawyers in The Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada published by Lexpert/American Lawyer. Outside of his practice, Mr. Evrensel has lectured on business and entertainment law at McGill University, the University of British Columbia, and the University of Victoria. Most recently, Mr. Evrensel has demonstrated his leadership in the Canadian legal community by co-founding of MEP Business Counsel with Ryan Michael Patryluk and Marshall Pawar, a full-service business and entertainment law firm based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and the latest Canadian law firm to break away from the relatively expensive and rigid “big law” firm model.
Apart from presenting the annual film festival itself, the Whistler Film Festival Society includes in its mandate, “a commitment to nurturing new artists, supporting unique and diverse creative voices, and furthering the reach of independent feature and documentary films around the world.” [More on the Whistler Film Festival Society and Celebrate WFF]
