Afshaan is a corporate lawyer in our Business Law Group. Prior to joining MEP Business Counsel, Afshaan practised as a tax lawyer at a leading multinational law firm and as a business and technology lawyer at a national law firm.

In her business law practice, Afshaan routinely advises clients on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including corporate organization and governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and other day to day transactional matters such as negotiating and drafting commercial agreements.

Afshaan is also a registered trademark agent and has experience in technology and intellectual property matters. Afshaan regularly prepares intellectual property licensing and assignment agreements and has experience preparing privacy policies, terms of use, SaaS Agreements, and providing strategic guidance to clients with respect to the management and expansion of their intellectual property portfolios. As a registered trademark agent, she has experience with all aspects of a trademark’s lifecycle, from pre-application trademark clearance searches and registrability opinions, to trademark filings, registrations, renewals, and Nice Classifications. She is a strong advocate for her clients’ contentious intellectual property proceedings.

Afshaan serves on the Board of Directors for both the Vancouver Chamber Choir, one of Canada’s premier professional choral ensembles, and The J Healthcare Initiative, a charity that promotes substance use healthcare and harm reduction.

Outside the office, Afshaan is an avid reader, enjoys expanding her horizons through travel, can often be found trying to catch up two children on the slopes of Whistler, and trying to eat her way through Vancouver restaurants with her husband.
