ABOUT JACK

Jack Finn is a Partner with MEP Business Counsel. His practice focuses on entertainment and media law, including film and television development, financing, production, distribution and other ancillary exploitation. Jack regularly represents and advises independent producers, production companies, animation studios, mini-major and major studios across the full life cycle of their productions – whether his clients are working on scripted, unscripted, documentary, animated, and/or live action projects. The core areas of Jack’s practice include intellectual property issues, corporate and commercial law, labour and employment matters, financing work, and specialized tax advice regarding the Canadian and British Columbian film and television labour tax credits.

Jack has served as production legal counsel for a number of Canadian and U.S. productions, including most recently: The Noel Diary – a feature length film released on Netflix; Phantom Pups – a Canadian Content series produced by Air Bud Entertainment; Honor Society – a feature length film released on Paramount+; Pets & Pickers – an unscripted series; Mayor of Kingstown – a major episodic series released on Paramount+; Drinkwater – an independent Canadian Content feature film produced by Suitcase Charlie Films; Invincible – a major animated series produced by Skybound Entertainment and released on Amazon Prime; The Astronauts – a television series released on Nickelodeon; among many others. Prior to joining MEP Business Counsel, Jack worked in the film and television industry for a major U.S. studio where he gained hands-on practical experience. Jack previously completed a clerkship with the British Columbia Supreme Court and practiced law at a national law firm in Vancouver.
